PureWeb Named a Principal Member of the Metaverse Standards Forum
We’re super proud to be named a principal member of the new Metaverse Standards Forum, alongside other members such as Epic Games, NVIDIA, Microsoft, Adobe, Alibaba, Qualcomm Technologies, Huawei, Sony Interactive Entertainment, Unity, and many more. The forum will begin meeting next month.
The purpose of this new collaborative body -- hosted by the Khronos Group -- is to build a pervasive, open, and inclusive metaverse at a global scale, where leading standards organizations and companies cooperate to foster interoperability standards to drive the growth of the metaverse.
We're looking forward to working together with other members to coordinate the requirements and resources needed to build a foundation of open standards to ensure various individual metaverse implementations will work together. The work involves identifying critical requirements for metaverse standards to ensure real-world interoperability.
The activities of the Forum will involve diverse technology domains, including but not limited to:
- Interactive 3D assets and photorealistic rendering
- Human interface and interaction paradigms including AR, VR, and XR
- User-created content
- Avatars, identity management, and privacy
- Financial transactions
- IOT and digital twins
- Geospatial systems
The Forum will focus on pragmatic, action-based projects such as implementation prototyping, hackathons, plugfests, and open-source tooling to accelerate the testing and adoption of standards, while also developing consistent terminology and deployment guidelines.
